Covid-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 Vaccine

We all want this pandemic to end. As of mid-January, the COVID-19 pandemic caused over 93 million cases and 2 million deaths worldwide. These striking numbers are likely underestimated since only people who have been tested are counted. In the United States, nearly 400,000 people have died due to COVID-19 and over 23 million have been infected.

To end this pandemic, we need people to get vaccinated.  Experts estimate that at least 70% of the population need to be vaccinated to stop this virus.  While some people do not get seriously ill from the virus, others may experience long lasting effects related to fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, joint pain, chest pain, difficulty thinking and concentrating (“brain fog”), depression, muscle pain, headache, and intermittent fever. In addition, some people have reported problems with their heart, lung, kidney, skin, teeth, and nervous system after COVID infection. These complications of infection as well as death, can be prevented by the vaccine.

One Community Health has received the vaccine and is following the guidelines for vaccine priority.

Currently we are vaccinating our staff, patients who are healthcare workers but whose employers don’t have the vaccine, and patients who are over the age of 75.

The vaccine will become more readily available soon.  Again, we urge you to get vaccinated wherever you can.  If you choose to come to One Community Health, we will welcome you.
