Childhood Immunizations in Sacramento
Did you know that یک سلامت جامعه offers immunizations for babies, children, and teens up to 17 years of age? If you?re getting ready to go back to school, make sure that your kids are up-to-date on their immunizations. We can provide all of the required vaccines for kids starting kindergarten and sixth grade, including TDAP, HPV, and MCV.
The TDAP vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Tetanus is caused by a bacteria that invades the body and produces toxins. These toxins cause painful muscle contractions that can lead to conditions like lockjaw, which causes swallowing and breathing issues.
Diphtheria is also caused by strains of toxic-producing bacteria, and can lead to difficulty breathing, heart failure, or paralysis. Pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough, is a contagious respiratory disease that causes uncontrollable and violent coughing. This coughing becomes so intense that it makes it difficult to breathe or swallow.
The HPV vaccine prevents human papillomavirus infections. HPV is a sexually transmitted disease that causes warts on the skin and genitals as well as certain types of cancer. Usually administered at 11-12 years of age, it can be given as early as age 9. It is given in two doses, six months apart. If your child gets the vaccine after their 15th birthday, they will need an additional dose added to the regime.
MCV vaccines help prevent meningococcal diseases, which are caused by bacteria. These infections can become extremely severe if they affect the lining of the brain, spinal cord, and bloodstream. Meningococcal infections cause fever, headache, and stiff neck, but symptoms can escalate into nausea, sensitivity to light, and confusion. There are two types of meningococcal vaccines available in the United States. Ask your doctor to help you choose the right one for your child.
